  List 90
The List 90 has a unique octagonal barrel and nozzle caps. As documented in an advertisement from the 1930s, it was originally called the Ludlow Diamond self-illuminating Fire Hydrant. It has a two piece barrel with a conventional bolted flange joint. It later evolved into the List 90-0 model shown in the next group below. It was produced in at least 3 sizes from the early 1930's to the mid-1960's. Only the later hydrants are dated. Here is the first page of the List 90 design patent which was filed by the inventor on January 29, 1932.

  • List 90 models, style #1 embossing. Made from 1931--1940, all of these first list 90 hydrants have "patents pending" embossed on the front and rear of the barrel and are not dated.

  • List 90. Style #2 embossing. 1941--1955. These list 90 hydrants are all year dated, have oval logo with "ludlow" inside, and "patented".

  • List 90-0. Style #2 embossing. 1956--1968. The barrels on these are the same as list 90 from 1941 to 1955. The only difference in appearance is in the bonnet style. Note-- List 90 and List 90-0 bonnets are interchangeable on all Ludlow Diamond hydrants.
  • These hydrants have 0-rings instead of stuffing boxes on the mainvalve stem.
