List 80 & High Pressure
  List 80
The List 80 model, with a balanced main valve, is not commonly found compared to its highly successful predecessor, the List 75.
  • The bonnet is very "functional" looking; lacking the ornateness of the List 75.
  • The upper barrel from the bonnet to below the hose nozzles is smooth; whereas below this it is fluted like a List 75 barrel (one smooth barrel exception noted below).
  • Hydrant sizes are listed by barrel I.D. The table below lists other hydrant dimensions to better help one ascertain hydrant size of those still in service:

    The photos below show two variations in barrel design:
  • This group has a sculptured barrel below bonnet with 4 nut pockets; and perhaps are all of a 1 pc. barrel design. A JULY 30, 1901 patent date can be found on the barrel of most of these and is indicated below, if known.
  • The familiar oval Ludlow logo, described on the List 75 pages, can be found in two sizes on the fluted barrel List 80s.

      (List 80) High Pressure Hydrants
    Bonnet style: rounded edge & smooth (no fluting)
    The main valve design is of the balanced valve design like that of the List 80 model found above. Ludlow literature dated 1921 lists these as simply "High Pressure Hydrants"; whereas 1940 literature lists these as "List 80 High Pressure Hydrants". They were made with or without internally gated nozzles.
  • Note the smooth nozzle section; differing from the fluted nozzle section of the List 75s.
  • The hydrants of this group may all have the 4¼" wide "narrow border" logo.
