Roe Stephens Mfg. Co. - Detroit, MI
Little is known about this company at the moment. We do know that in addition to fire hydrants, the company manufactured the Scott Safety Valve, a steam pressure relief valve.

We believe that the hydrants shown below are Detroit Spec hydrants; which were also made by East Jordan Iron Works, Michigan Valve, and others. Another company, Flower Stephens Mfg. Co., also of Detroit, may have been the predecessor of Roe Stephens Mfg. Co.

(If you have any information about this company and/or their hydrants please Contact Us)

These "Spec" hydrants have interchangable components with those of other brands supplied to the same drawing specifications; which explains why hydrants with bonnets and barrels of different brands can be found ... having been mixed up during rebuild in water department shops.
