Long Beach Iron Works - Long Beach, CA Long Beach Iron Works was founded in 1913 and is today a regional manufacturer of construction castings for the public works sector. Water drainage, municipal and airport rated castings, seismic retrofit and miscellaneous bridge and structure castings, as well as castings for telephone and electrical applications are amongst the markets served today. As illustrated below, Long Beach Iron Works also made wet barrel fire hydrants for a number of years. Typical of the globalization of business, the barrels of Long Beach Iron Works hydrants were sourced from New Zealand, Korea, and Taiwan, while the valve parts were purchased domestically in California and Wyoming. In February, 1996, the hydrant division of Long Beach Iron Works was sold to Clow Valve. See Also Clow Valve.
