Chapman Valve Mfg. Co.- Multiple Valve Hydrants
List 82s - Part 3

  Multiple Valve (internally gated)
These independently gated Chapman hydrants may or may not be List 82 models; but they are from the same time period. They lack the pot-bellied appearance of the conventional List 82 model. Chapman Valve literature describes these as "Chapman post fire-hydrants with inside independent valve on each hose nozzle". Three different vintages/styles are shown below; each with a picture of their logo embossing. All known examples have screw-in nozzles.

This first group has the "lacework" bonnet, typical of pre-1902 vintage List 82s.

  Multiple Valve (externally gated)
These Chapman hydrants with bolted on gate valves may or may not be List 82 models; but they are from the same time period. Chapman Valve literature describes these as "Chapman post fire-hydrants with Fig. 2458 independent valve on each hose nozzle". These hydrants have a conventional bolted flange 2 piece barrel. Two styles/vintages are shown below.

This first group has the "lacework" bonnet like that found on pre-1902 vintage List 82s.
  • List 82 hydrants with bolted on gate valves can be found in the 'circa 1902-1910 group' in Part 3
