vonRoll hydro - Oensingen, Switzerland

Gesellschaft der Ludwig von Roll’schen Eisenwerke was founded in 1823 in Gerlafingen, Switzerland by Swiss engineer Ludwig von Roll. Many products have been produced during the long history of the company and it's divisions, including components for aerial tramway and rack railway systems, thermal waste treatment systems, as well as their familiar waterworks products, including fire hydrants.

    Identifying Characteristics: Ornate design with dragon mouths surrounding the nozzles.
    Swiss patent 13959 was awarded to Ludwig von Roll'schen Eisenwerke in 1897 for this model.
  • Internally gated 55mm Storz nozzles.
  • Design originally produced in the year 1896.

    Characteristics: Note that the twin hose nozzles do not angle downward to facilitate connection. Catalogue text mentions that this hydrant often was used with an auxiliary valve (illustrated) to facilitate connecting a second hose.
