THE NEW MILLENNIUM

The end of the 20th century brought even more changes. In 1998 the City fire department was contracted out to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. Cal Water continued to make improvements to the City's water system and the hydrants being installed were "off the shelf" Long Beach Iron Works wet barrel models with 4½ in. National Hose steamer outlets. The older hydrants were all adapted to National Hose thread. While Marysville's rich history will continue, its unique connectivity to get water for fire fighting was no more.
