Joshua Hendy Iron Works - San Francisco, CA
The Joshua Hendy Iron Works was one of the earliest foundry and machine works in California. They were initially a manufacturer of gold and silver mining machinery. Over the years the company produced a wide range of mining equipment, and myriad other things, including ornamental iron street lamps and arches, giant gate valves, large pumps, high pressure turbines, diesel engines, Navy anti-aircraft guns, and fire hydrants. The company was founded in 1906 and ceased operations in 1946.
