We have very limited information at FH.O about these hydrants. It is our understanding that these hydrants were made by Bachelor and Finnenan to Boston Water Department specifications and designs. The hydrants have NO embossing for manufacturer or size.

  Internally gated Hydrants
  • ALL the nozzles in these hydrants are internally gated. By design, the bonnet must be removed to gain access to the operating nuts for each nozzle, as shown in photo 2053b.
  • These hydrants were installed in Boston with an iron access cover, so that the hydrants could be serviced without digging, as seen in photo 2053c
