A.D. Cook Pump Co. - Lawrenceberg, IN
A.D. Cook Pump Company started in 1870 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. The exact year the company
started producing hydrants is unknown, but, in the words of Gus Cook, whose great grandfather
A.D. Cook founded the company "I think that the first ones were made after the Ohio river
flood of 1913. This is also about the time that Cook Pumps were starting to be widely used
by cities who were installing municipal water systems: Cook's liked to offer a complete package,
which included testing, designing, and installing the equipment: the hydrants were a natural
extension to the system." Gus went on to say, "By the way, the hydrant with the outlets in the
head was probably one of the last designs, from the late 1930's to early 1940's."
The A.D. Cook Pump Company was sold in 1946 to Byron Jackson Pump Company. If you know more

There are two known models of A.D. Cook hydrants. Both have a separate bonnet top
very similar to that found on Bourbon Copper and Brass
Works hydrants made in nearby Cincinnati, Ohio.
