The hydrant body has been carefully ground, filled, and polished to a mirror finish. It was then treated to professionally applied automotive lacquer. The trim pieces and caps are gold plated. Yes, that's right --- gold adheres readily to cast iron and was thus chosen. The Mangum's hydrant makes for an impressive indoor display at their home in Texas. |
