Shane Bullock's Hydrant Collection

Shane Bullock served as a firefighter for 12 years with the City of Belle, Missouri, the last two as chief. He has been collecting fire related items for 12 years and just recently acquired three hydrants.



The hydrant pictured is a 1947 Mueller Improved with a 4½" mainvalve, made in Chattanooga, Tennessee.



This Iowa model 28 has twin 2½" outlets, 4 bolts underbonnet, and an indicated bury depth of 3½ feet. As Shane relates, "While removing four coats of paint, I found that one of the original color combo's was yellow with a red bonnet and caps. I highlighted the lettering to make it more visible. The location of this hydrant is Museum on Fire."


"This is a 1960 Eddy Valve hydrant with a single 2½" outlet, and a 4" mainvalve. The original color was green, but I thought that I would spruce it up a little with some red. I know it makes it look a little christmas-y, but it looks better than the yellow I tried first. The hydrant is at the Museum on Fire".


Shane has acquired 2 more hydrants. This Rensselaer L-90A from 1947 was originally painted orange, so that is the color for the restoration. There are 2 x 2½" outlets, and a 4" mainvalve. The restored hydrant is located at the Museum on Fire.


This Dresser model 300 is from 1970 and was originally painted blue. There are 2 x 2½" outlets, and a 4½" mainvalve. The appearance of this model was covered by U.S. design patent D202163 . The restored hydrant is located at the Museum on Fire.
