Bob Dunn's hydrant collection

Bob Dunn works for the City of Winona Water Department in southeastern Minnesota. As he puts it:

"They used to scrap most of the hydrants to the local scrap yard, except a few they gave to retired firemen. As I had twenty acres here and plenty of room, I started saving a few from the scrap yard. Two of mine are the same style since the second one of that style was my birth year so I just had to have it."

"We have a list now of many people who want a hydrant so we don't send any more to the scrap yard. I still have my eye on a few others in town that I don't have in "Fire Plug Row". Maybe some day I will have the time to restore them and give them a nice paint job, but for now I'm just happy that they aren't melted down to nothing."
